All You Want to know about the lethal Wolves

By Umang Rajpurohit

Wolves are one of the most lethal and dangerous animals of the wild. They follow the rule of kill and kill(no kindness and no harmony). They think about filling their tummy first and then comes everything. They belong to the dog family.

There are two major species of wolves, one species is the ethopian wolf or Canis Simensis. Only about 500 of these wolves exist and they inhabit the mountains of ethiopia. The seniority of the world's wolves belong to the species called grey wolf or canis lupus. Numbering upto around 250,000 and including upto about 40 sub-species. Wolves are scattered across the northern hemisphere wolves vary greatly in size the smaller vary greatly in size the smaller wolf subspecies inhabit the desert regions of the middle east.

Strength

They stand at an average of about 36 inches tall at the shoulder and can weigh up to 175 pounds, making them the largest wild members of the dog family. Wolf packs are said to be  ruled by an alpha male and an alpha female but recent studies have shown that it was just a myth.

Wolves are highly social creatures and operate as a group or pack  often comprised of six to ten. Wolves packs are units that hunt and live together within the packs. Each wolf has a unique personality to maintain order among the pack as alphas. They establish the only wolves in the pack to breed each wolf's howl is unique.

Much like fingerprint on human howls are distinct to each wolf characteristics like pitch and amplitude of these vocalisation help signify which wolves create certain howls. These vocalisations allow wolves to communicate with other wolves they may also howl to nearby became extinct in the continental united states throughout the early history of the U.S.

Waves of settlers travelled into the young country's then underdeveloped west rising human populations and settlements nearly wiped out deer elk and bison populations prey normally hunted by wolves.

Without their usual prey wolves then restored to hunting livestock making the canines targets for hunters and trappers by the mid 1930s wolves were almost completely exterminated. Then some policies were made to conserve them.

Habitat and Nature

Wolves use facial experience to communicate. You may think of them as cold and aloof, but wolves can actually be expressive experts found that wolves can display 9 different emotions through distinct cues from their features. A wolf's howl can travel for over 15 km. One of the first things you would associate with wolves is their trademark howl. Depending on the area you can hear a wolf's howl from 10 to 16 km away.

Wolves can eat over 20 pounds of meat in one time(breakfast, lunch and dinnner). In the wild wolves doesn't have steady supply of food. While they can survive on as little as 2 pounds of meat a day, they can go on all-out binge if, they encounter prey that's large enough. There are only 2 kinds of wolves remain in the wild(that's what studies says). Through out history, around 24 species of wolves have gone extinct.

Currently, scientists and zoologist classify the remaining wolf species  the red wold and grey wolf varities.
