Let's Explore Galapagos island

Galapagos island or galapagos group of island is a part of Ecuador(South American country). Galapagos island got its name from the tortoise species names as galapagos. Galapagos is one of the the most favorite island for the biologist because the species of animals and plants can't be found in any part of the world.

If we go back to the starting or the origin of the galapagos island, the galapagos island are around 5 million years old. The population of galapagos island around the starting of 20th century was only 1000 but today there are more the 30,000 inhabitants on this volcanic islands. Galapagos is not only one island instead it is a archipelago(groups of many islands). The galapagos islands are the western most island of the world.

Fernindina is the most active volcano of the galapagos island. The galapagos island at this time is facing environmental threats at this time including deforestation and climate change. Because as the population of the island is increasing it is becoming more of a problem to this archipelago. The galapagos island got its name from the tortoise but this tortoise species is almost extincted.

Fauna and birds Species

Talking about the wildlife the galapagos have one of the most wide variety of fauna, starting with tortoise(which are on the verge of extinction) one of the most easily found species is of the iguanas. Iguanas are a species of lizards(they can be found everywhere on this archipelago). But the life of this creature is not easy, when the iguanas have to give birth to their offsprings in the very bottom of the volcano.

So, the journey is not easy for the iguanas. Because they have to come from the very peak to the bottom. When the iguanas are in between the rocks or the debris fall on their way, in this journey around half of the female iguanas lose their life. But the fortunate, on reaching the ground, find a good place for their eggs to lay. But this also a very hard situation for them, because before the other females can take the place, the place is almost already reserved. 

The bird species which can be found on this archipelago are dracula finch, boobies, galapagos hawk. The only species of penguin found on this island is galapagos penguin. Also, the frigratebirds are only species found on galapagos.

But after reading the whole blog you are planning to settle on the island then there is a bad new for you as per the ecuador's law which was passed in 1999, the island doesn't provide citizenship to any new person. Because more people living on this island will destroy it's vegetation and land fast. The only people can live on this islands are the people living on that island before the year 1999 or their upcoming generations. But the good new is that if you want to visit the island then you can visit the place without any problem because that is allowed.
