6 Plants that NASA recommend to improve air quality

Doing Gardening or growing plants at home can be your hobby and you may have bought different types of plants to decorate your home or your garden. You know that plants carry out photosynthesis(in light) and respiration(all the time). That way plants grow and give you oxygen. But there are specific plants that NASA suggest you to bring to your home to increase or improve air quality of your house. So, below are the six plants that NASA recommend you to bring your house.


1. Snake Plant

Scientific Name: Dracaena trifasciata


Famously known as 'mother in law's tongue plant'( because of it's shape and it's sharp leaves).  Snake plant is a well habitated plant, which can cope well  with dry air and can even cope up with heavy sunlight. Snake plant is known for improving air-quality. You don't have to wate this plant every day even if you water it every two or three weeks is adequate. One more beautiful part of this plant is that it can grow both indoor and outdoors snake plants helps in filtering indoor air.

So, bringing snake plant to your home will help you in both, improving air-quality and it looks aesthetic as well.


2. Chinese Evergreen


Scientific Name: Aglaonema

Aglaonema widely known chinese Evergreen. Chinese Evergreens can reach upto two feet long. This plant needs medium sunlight to survive, but make sure that you keep it warm otherwise it will not survive. Even if you water this plant once a week it will be enough if you keeping it indoor. This plant are slow growing, takes few years to reach their full size. Even rooting them in water is possible. One thing about chinese evergreen is that is a super disease-resistant and bugs don't come close to them. It removes toxic gases, like CO, Fomaldehyde, Benzene etc.


3. Peace Lily


Scientific Name: Spathiphyllum

Known as Spathiphyllum. This plants increase humidity level. This plant brings calmness    and eliminate stress from mind. Keep this plant in bright. They can survive watering mistakes peace lily can grow upto 1 to 4 feet tall. When the peace lillies get too much light their blooms turns green. Peace lillies lives for three to five years.

Peace lillies survive between 65 to 80 fahrenheit. Peace lillies need moist soil.


4. Spider Plant

Scientific Name: Chloropytum comosom

Also known as spider ivy and ribbon plant. Spider plant looks beautiful indoor. This plant clears airborne irritants and increase humidity. Avoid direct sunlight on this plant because it will scorch the leaves. Spider plant produces small white flowers. Spider plants also remove carbon monoxide from the air. It is a native to southern Africa and many other parts of Country including Western Australia.


5. Aloe Vera


Scientific Name: Aloe miller

Aloe Vera is a plant riched with antioxidants and vitamins. It fights Acne, helps in boosting digestion, lowers blood sugar, helps in anti-ageing. Using Aloe vera on your face can treat acne, sunburn and eczema. Aloe Vera can cure diabetes, skin related issues, fever, ulcers and many more diseases. But keep in mind eating too much aloe vera can cause kidney problems , muscle weakness. stomach cramps etc.

Aloe vera is must a have plant because of the above given benefits.


6. Heartleaf Philodendron


Scientific Name: Philodendron hederaceum

Heartleaf Philodendron is a fast growing plant. It is one of the easiest handling houseplant. Heartleaf Philodendron have a capacity to remove gaseous toxins from the air. You can place this plant in partial sunlight. They come in wide variety of beautiful shades. It can Survive without fertilization.
